What Went Well?

Overall, the sequence went well. The lip sync mostly matched up to the song. After having problems with actors in our film opening, we were very prepared with who, what and were, so that we could film as and when planned. The filming was very steady and we also edited a zoom into the sequence that ran smoothly too. The song  was very upbeat as was the scene in the film we chose.

What Were The Problems?

One struggle we came across was the memory on the SD card as we found that we look lots of shots, and ran out of space. To resolve this we will make sure to bring a spare memory card in future tasks. We also had a problem with trying to get steady shots when the camera was off tripod following our actor across the road. The lighting was also a problem as the natural lighting was very bright which affected the quality of the filming. We also found that the match on action was not very smooth as it jumped back regularly. This is something we will have to control in our final piece by taking lots of shots. The panning was also not smooth which we will also learn to control in our final piece.

What Have I Learnt?

During this task, I have learnt that preparation is very important. I have also learnt that how steady the camera is can affect the sequence, and to take all mistakes into consideration in order to improve.

What Have I Learnt?

During this task, I have learnt how music video's use a mixture of performance and narrative in order to entertain, as well as connect with their audiences. I have also learnt how different genre's of music have different codes and conventions in order to portray different things. I have also looked at different theories and how they can be applied to a music video in order to avoid certain things when I create my video. For example, I will not objectify the women in my video for the male eye.

Task 4:

ANALYSIS OF DIGIPAK ADVERTS

What Have I Learnt?

During this task, I have learnt that a typical convention of a digipak poster is an image of the artist looking directly at the camera, making the album seem more personal. Digipak posters also tend to have minimalistic designs in order to draw attention to the artist and the important information given, such as the date of release.

Task 3:

Analysis of Digipak's

What Have I Learnt?

I have learnt that a digipak must include the following:
  • A front cover (information includes the artist name, album name and the album cover)
  • A back cover (information includes copyright information, a track list, and a background image)
  • The spine (information includes the artists name, the name of the album, a barcode, and the record company)
  • Inside cover (this is where you will normally find the plastic CD holder that has another piece of artwork behind it. Occasionally information about the artist, lyrics and personal messages can be found here too)

ANALYSIS OF MUSIC VIDEOS

What Have I Learnt?

During this task, I have looked at various websites and discovered that all websites are different, depending on the genre of music, artist and style. Each website promotes their artist in a different way such as tabs for merchandise and concert dates and is personalized to the artist, making it more recognizable.
